Post your XS/XJ video link

So recently I put a camera mount on Betsy, and I've been experimenting with shooting riding videos. Another member said he was ailing and unable to ride, and liked watching the videos - which got me thinking. I know I'm not the only one with a camera, and maybe it would be fun to have a thread with a bunch of XSive videos in one place. Might be nice for those who are a little banged up and can't ride right now - and it might be fun for a bunch of us in the cold winter months when all we can do is dream about riding on warm summer days.

Doesn't have to be a riding video - anything with an XS/XJ in it should do nicely. Or any motorcycle for that matter. I just ask that it be actual XS11 member's own personal videos - more interesting that way. Hopefully there's some interest in our little community.

I'll start the ball rolling with a vid I shot yesterday. Nothing earth shattering, but I did get behind a SAAAA-WEEEET '65 Mustang for a while...

My YouTube videos

Hey DB,

I shouldn't, but here goes. I have a modest YouTube account, so here's the link to my entire account....all of the videos are public access. I sent a link to the Deal's Gap video to Kurt to show him what he has to look forward to.

https://www.youtube.com/user/topcatgr/videos

However, reviewing the videos....I had a bitchin' music soundtrack I had put onto that 20 min video....but when I went to account and that video...I saw a Nastygram where "Some" computer had apparently reviewed the video and it's soundtrack.... and that it determined that the music was Copyright ed and that I hadn't gotten any permissions, but instead deleting the video....they/Youtube just MUTED the soundtrack !

SO....I apologize for that. The way I had recorded it some 13 years ago with a Sony Super8 Analog Video Tape camcorder....mounted behind the windscreen, it captured both the engine sounds, as well as the muffler/road scrapes , and then I had added several good songs..... Eric Clapton's Crossroads, Queen's Dragon Attack(Deal's Gap=Tail of the Dragon), Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Chile-slight return(lyrics=Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand), Led Zep's "Over the Hills and Far Away": In that order in case you want to play your own soundtrack!

Guess I'll have to re-upload it with just the regular sounds without the music!

Now...don't LAUGH too hard when you see the dragstrip runs. It was late fall, wearing bulky gloves both for cold protection, but also required as part of the safety gear the RaceTrack required! I had not done very many practice runs of quick off the line starts with 5+K revving! I had a friend that lived in Richmond that I had met up with, and he was doing the recording from the sidelines, he caught my second run IIRC, my first run was actually done with the camcorder ON THE BIKE, the 3rd run I had come around rather quickly...and my friend hadn't realized that I was already at the line so he totally missed recording the MISHAP! I was paired with a guy on a Harley running a Screamin Eagle kit, extended swingarm and such!

SO...I wanted to have a good showing and try to give him a run for his money. After lighting the starting tree, I revved it up to 5K, and started feathering the clutch and was moving out....thought I had feathered enough...remember the bulky gloves...and so I dumped the rest of the clutch lever. The front end came up to the sky.....almost backwards over on me , but I was able to somehow hold on....turn the throttle down to get the front end back on earth...and then finished my miserable run!!! SO...then when I came around for the next run....that was why the starting guy is doing the HIGH WHEELIE gesturing to me making fun of me!!! I was still a bit nervous and gunshy after that wheelie, and so I did another miserable run.. My best run was I think the first one at ~14.9 seconds or so! But at least I had some fun and found out a little about my bike....like because of the extended front end forks...it can wheelie even easier!!

Maybe someday I'll get back to the track and try it again!

T.C.

You've got some cool vids, TC. It sucks about the sound track - but I did like the "Heavy Metal" in the Gopro test. If it wasn't for the licensing/permissions/etc. this would make good background music for some of the dragstrip video - Rev on the Redline

That's a cool video, Bill. However, I was hoping we'd keep this to just XS11.com member videos. As in a member either shot the video or was shot by the video... if that makes any sense. We all have access to Youtube, but I wanted to keep this an XS11 "clan" thing.

That being said, I hear you on the background music. Or just video editing in general. I'm still at the raw video stage, but hopefully we'll get some better "shooters" to participate, and maybe we can all learn a thing or two.

He picked a good spot to setup. Man, you could really hear them coming a long way off. That was cool.

Pretty Stinky Video.... First Try from back seat..

XS Folks,
This is pretty stinky video but decided to share it anyway. This was shot by my wife from the back seat. It's our first try and we'll try to do a lot better next time. We are on the road to Pine Mountain Georgia (FDR State Park).

I liked it. I spent a little time not far from Pine Mountain, low those many years ago. A little south and east of Columbus.
