I also have some Galfer lines on one of my bikes. I love them.
Only difference I know of is that the XJ4ever lines will fit, no matter what as I personally fit all of those lines they make to every model of XS made.
I do not set prices nor profit from them. My only goal was to make S/S lines available to us all as some were quitting the production of them as the bikes get older (Think Exhaust systems).
I love it when members as yourself save money and can pass it along to others. I just hope that every seller is basing his business on old Yamaha's and sticks around. Sometimes those evilbay sellers are short lived. The guy who has the lines I helped with sponsors the XJ site, so he is an interested party.
I just would like every rider of an XS1100 to have the assured stopping power any S/S lines help to provide.

My main reason for those Galfers is I had an awful hard time sorting through the XJ4ever website to find what I was looking for honestly. All I found was oem style rubber lines and they were priced higher than what this stainless kit was.

If I missed something and could have supported someone for a comparable price I really apologize.

I went with the Techs fits. They fit well but I think the rear line could be an inch or two shorter. Damn near went over the front first time I hit the breaks... Huge improvement over the old lines

I think they would be interested in what you say about the rear line.
maybe take a picture and send to them? They seem to listen well to concerns.

Len aka Chacal on XJbikes.com is a true Yamaha enthusiast and vendor...we all should be supporting him as he supports our Yamaha community...There may be other vendors that are cheaper but none of them are as involved as Len. He is a great vendor and I have bought stuff from him in the past. he is very communicative as a pleasure to do business with...I dont gain anything here except to hope for the continuation of fine parts and accessories for our aging XS1100s...

If your willing to make up the significant difference in cost, I'll buy the next two sets from him.

You might rethink that after you see what he is giving away at XSSE... I'm privy but my lips are sealed...

I got to say it looks like 180 bucks for a stainless set of lines for my SG. I love to support a vendor but I don't see where that benefits me in anyway shape or form.

Smile Story time.....

XS Friends,
I have SS lines from: XJBikes, Russell, and Galfer's on my three XS11's. Therefore, I think I have something to add to this discussion having a fair variety of lines on my bikes.

When I acquired my first bike I found some NOS Russell lines for the front on Flea-Bay. Thirty years old but still in the original package they were a great deal. They fit PROPERLY are WELL MADE and were an easy install. I've quite a bit of Russell items on my Hot Rods and trust their products. One drawback is they do not have the protective plastic cover over the SS line and get dirty. They are hard to keep looking nice. Russell no longer makes lines for our bikes....

I was encouraged to look at Len's (XJBikes) lines and I purchased a one-piece rear for that first XS11. PERFECT fit, good looking, less potential leak points, and DOT approved. DONE! Love it.

I purchased a couple more XS11's (Mayberry & Dead Duck) and quickly replaced the rears with Len's lines. Again, PERFECT.

HERE'S THE STORY TIME:
Short on time before XSSE and a little short of money.... I looked for a cheaper alternative for the fronts on those machines.

I call an on-line retailer and ask about the Galfer's lines: "Do these lines meet the DOT standards? " Response: "NO, but we can do that for you for free!"

"What?" "Well Sir meeting the DOT standards requires an extra three days in production as those are special order, we have to modify the way we crimp the line and add a dust protector to keep debris, water,& stuff out of the fittings"- - - "Most people don't want to wait and don't really care about the DOT standard so they're just stocked without that"

"Well buddy that is important to me and I will wait the three days"

CONCLUSION:
The Galfer lines do NOT fit well, the bends are NOT correct on the end fittings, orientation of the fittings (end to opposing end) are NOT correct making you TWIST the line to get it on, Twisting the line makes it shorter and BARELY makes the length needed, the banjo fittings are big & ugly and made cheaply.

I saved a handful of dollars, and got a pile of lines that are not nearly as well made. Also, I don't think the dumb kid I ordered these from has any ability to answer even a simple question.

As soon as I can afford to do so, these Galfer's are headed for a trash can. In the long run I didn't save anything and will toss a bunch of $$$$ in the trash.

Personally, I'll be sticking with Len's lines for all my bikes.

KURT

I ordered a full set of lines, hoses, seals and pads for my XJ1100 this last Saturday. The order shipped the same day 2-day Express and arrived Monday afternoon.

The clear SS braided hoses and new hard lines look good, everything fits, it all works perfectly and it's DOT certified.

Excellent parts and excellent service! Thank you, Len!
