I've been running just 5/16 lock washers for...

I've been running just 5/16 lock washers for years. Locktite might be ok but I would be wary of pulling threads on the aluminum wheel.

I never had one even try to loosen up with just lock...

The middle drive cap can be replaced with an oil pan plug from any parts house. As a matter of fact it makes it easier to R&R when yo need to check or change the fluid.

You really don't need a gasket. Yamabond or Threebond 1194 will work just fine.
