If this in fact the carbs first tear down then pay attention that the inner tubes will have less holes than the outer and need to go back in the same place .

Sorry but no . The XJ and the LH 81 midnight special are the only one's that use those brake calipers .

The 79 - 81 specials are the same .

I puzzled the purpose of that screw ( at least on the rear brake ) and could not find any good reason it's there so now I don't even put it in .

No kick shaft means the engine is a transplant too . Pieced together is not the same as restored . Not dissing it but not mint if not original .

Just saying something looks out of whack. Only takes a few minutes to loosen the axle bolt and find out .Could be an optical illusion but seems possible .

On the other hand also seems unlikely due...

I don"t have a photo share acct or I would .Best thing to do is loosen the axle bolt and make sure the shoulder goes through the torque plate and retighten the bolt . A quick search found this...

The sender is a nc switch. Oil pressure breaks the ground . Easy enough to test with a meter or test light. But it does not interfeer with the run circuit . Not sure if thats addressing your question...

While not exactly answering your question I would like to mention that on the SF model a bad tail lamp bulb will also set off the oil warning lamp .

I would like to also note that the early carbs have a tendency to have the mixture screw tips break off in the carbs .When I got my E all 4 were broken .

My E spring is hooked just like yours but clearly the pedal shaft is not protruding enough for the peddle pinch bolt to go thru.
