More discs= louder, leaner mixture, less back pressure One time I was running 10 discs in mine (single 4-1 Supertrapp) and all was good for the type of roads in my area. When I reached the twisty roads in NC, I found that I needed more low end grunt. I ran 5 discs increasing back pressure, which gave the bike better low end. You'll find out later that adding and removing discs will change your plug color. Supertrapp, A+ for tunability. ![]()

Very nice exhaust, and I like what you've done with the bike too!

I found a MAC 4 to 1 on ebay recently and also bought the SuperTrapp Muffler....soon to do this...I'll document it in my own thread...but this thread was most certainly an inspiration!

Hate to ask the obvious, but why not just clone the OEM pipes - perhaps with a supertrap fitting?
Just take the exact dimensions, and make them? |

Holes in Baffles
the bike on this youtube video sounds great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zB2s4mGZsng. he says that he drilled holes in the baffles. would that cause the exhaust temp to go up and damage the engine? anyone know? if it does not hurt anything, how and where would you drill these holes?

Hello, I am a tig welder in Ohio, also looking for custom exhaust, about to make my own 4-2 that has both mufflers on the same side similar to harley, if it turns out ok I may consider selling custom setups, but custom work is not cheap.

I haven't seen it done on a xs so far, so just gonna wing it, the question is: pie cuts or bend my own tube

Hey there Jrotilie,
The diameter for the headers are ~1.5", and unless you have a fancy Mandrell bending machine, then it can be a real PITA to manually bend the pipes without stuffing them with sand or such to keep them from collapsing, wrinkling, etc.! I made a set of headers for a fellow Xsive a couple of years ago, take a look at this thread for hopefully some ideas!? http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...xhaust+project T.C. |

Still making custom SS exhaust
Just throwing it out there.....
Last year I got a replacement exhaust from Heinz Wyes for my SG. Still made per order with long lead time, ordered late Jan 16 and received Sep 16. Excellent materials and craftsmanship. Drop in pipes just have to drill the holes in the support fins.
