That's what I was wondering. I have an 81 special, but it doesn't even look like the pictures of the Standards that I have seen here. Doesn't hurt to check it out though.

Definitely a '78E, not too shabby. Could try taking him down just a little. I refuse to pay exactly what they ask.

Just talked to the owner this morning. It is a 78. It was his dad's and has been sitting for 4 years. He has started it off and on, but his buddy cleaned the carbs and tried to synch them. It runs on full choke, but dies when you shut the choke off. Good compression though. I'm going to check it out this afternoon. My wife is going to kill me.

I payed $400 for mine and it's '79 with Windjammer IV and hard bags...all it needs is a good cleaning, hoses and tires(has not ran since 1987..)

Better hurry, there is another post in tge tech section that is most likely referring to this same bike and looking at buying it. Better pull the trigger if you are going to!

Just got back from looking at this bike. If anyone is looking for a good bike that needs a little TLC check it out. If I had the money I would have bought it. He's pretty firm on his price. The carbs have been cleaned, probably just need a synch and a new boot or two. New pipes a couple of years ago. Nice looking bike, but we all know a 33 year old bike always needs something done to it.
