Hotter plug for 80 XS1100SG

Is there a hotter plug than the BP6ES stock plug for the 80 XS1100SG.

Wrong way Brant, the bigger the # the hotter the plug. I just realized the other day that I am still running the BP8ES plugs I dad put in there when I was having carb troubles a couple of years ago.

NGK numbers run backwards, lower number hotter, higher number colder.

Well I'll be damned. I did not know that.

I just looked it up to be certain. Thanks Phil.

That means I've been running plugs 2 ranges to cold for a couple of years.
I was fouling plugs and I just went into the parts house and asked for a hotter plug and that's what they gave me. HMMM they worked.

Don't put in a hotter plug if you do a lot of hiway cruising, you will likely end up with detonation when you shut down. A hotter plug does not burn hotter, it just stays hot longer. The cool down takes longer on the hot plug. In some cases it will help burn away excess oil off the plug.

BTW........I just went and checked. Sometime in the last couple years I changed them back to BP6ESs'. Don't remember doing it though.

I hate getting old.
