Was Roo riding a Honda Shadow or Harley type bike? Saw a riot shield windscreen and thought it looked way too comfortable for him

He already HAS the Iron Man award from the bobber he rode naked last time (the bike was naked, Roo was not).

It felt like riding a hardtail mini bike over speed bumps in a wind tunnel.

Wish I could have made it - maybe next year. I miss Durango.

Thumbs up

Howard, thank you for scouting, setting up and leading the rally -- fantastic!

Joe, thanks for posting the pics! I did a compression check last night at Motoman's and got:
#1 120
#2 120
#3 90
#4 145

Looks like the used rings didn't like being re-used but for one cylinder and it's doing most of the work. Oh well, in a few minutes Roo and I are off to St. George for the day's goal and should be home sometime tomorrow! Yay!

compression numbers

You're welcome Scott,
Posting pics. is a real chore for me...I have many more to post and will soon.
I get conflicting info on what compression readings would be here at altitude versus sea level..If you recheck at home I would be interested in knowing THOSE numbers....Safe journey the rest of the way home

Compression readings in and of themselves aren't as critical as is the difference between them. But Colombo is running with some emphysema with the low number of 90 and a high of 145 with two others in the middle.

What is a good compression reading your RD's Joe? Curious how two strokes compare to 4 strokes.

Thanks from me to rdmcguy and CaptonZap for their enthusiasm and encouragement in doing the rally and to everyone that travelled from afar to make it a good and safe one, and I to look forward to the next time.

Wink Right back at ya!

You're welcome, thanks for the recognition and your contributions as well.
Bonz, 150lbs. of compression would be considered good for an rd mine have milled heads so the numbers might be slightly higher..I would imagine that here in the modern era with better metallurgy.that number could be boosted some..When talking about Gas a while back you said high compression Ratios demanded higher octane...Rd's have a compression ratio of 6.7 to 1 but it seemed that higher octane fuels made my bikes perform better than another rd Maybe it was just my superior skills...hahaha

Joe's magnificent El Toro. Open exhaust, Evil LED light eyes, nostrils blow white flour smoke via CO2 system, tail wags, cow moo horn via remote lever on right bar (horn is red apparatus you can see behind the pods), plunger push tube on back right side loaded with brownie mix to make it take a dump... NO lie on all of those functions. Suzuki S50 front end.
Cops pulled up along side, not sure what to do, and could only shake their heads when Joe wagged the tail via handlebar mounted remote cable lever... True story!

Update: Scott and Roo made Beaver, Utah for the nite. Scott has 'thrown in the towel' this round with Columbo. It gets a U-Haul ride home tomorrow as mechanical noises became more obvious, and he would prefer a repairable motor as opposed to a gernaded pile of scrap metal. Roo will be riding 'sweep'.

Damn that is tough Scott. At least he held up l9ng enough to rally.

Painful, time consuming and expensive to start over.

What is suspect besides old rings?
