Usually if 1 and 2 and open a lot more than 3 then this would happen. If so, when you go to do the final step they should start to balance out. You can get some strange readings if things are out of wack until you get them to where they belong. Mine was such the first time I did it that when I started doing 1 and 2 it died. Then I adjusted the idle and started again and things worked fine from there.

Garth,
Your method goes against everything I have read so far, but it worked! It's running like a charm. I guess I'll go back to not even bothering to read the directions. ![]()

That is the only real way to to these cabs! You might need to do some intermediate adjustments just to keep it running if 1,2,and 4 are way off from No. 3, but final adjustments are all relative to No. 3.

Garth's sync order/method is inline with what I used on my bike. It's also the order seen here as performed by a member on an XS: ![]() |

Reality is you needed to adjust your idle speed down. Wether you adjust 1 to 2 first, or 3 to 4 first should make not a hill of beans difference. However, the idle screw will change ALL of them. JMHO.

Yeah, that's what I found out. Things were so out of whack to begin with. It was only idling at 1100, but with a little adjusting #3 came right down on the carbtune. I was able to synch all four of them from there. Just put 200 miles on it, and it's running better than ever. Thanks to all!
